Built to stop the tap that costs you
LinkGuard is a small, focused Android app that helps ordinary people check links and QR codes before they open them.
Why we built it
Most scam losses start the same way: a message creates urgency, a link looks close enough to real, and one tap leads to a fake page. We wanted a tool that answers "is this safe?" in seconds, in plain language, without needing to be a security expert.
How LinkGuard checks a link
Each scan follows the link through any redirects to its final destination, then runs 15 checks on it. Some compare the link against live threat databases such as Google Safe Browsing, URLhaus and OpenPhish. Others inspect the link itself for common tricks.
- Threat databases: known phishing and malware sites
- Transport security: TLS certificate validity and HTTPS
- Structure: raw IP addresses, embedded credentials, link shorteners
- Impersonation: disguised characters and fake-brand look-alikes
What it cannot do
LinkGuard is a second opinion, not a guarantee. A very new scam page may not be on any list yet, and a safe-looking page can still be abused. We say so in the app and here: if something feels wrong, stop.
Your privacy
No account, no name and no email are needed. Only the link you choose to scan is checked, and your scan history stays on your device. Read the full privacy policy for specifics.
